Dr. Biswajit Mohapatra is an Associate Professor in the Dept of Political Science, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India where he also directs various research programmes in Politics and International Relations. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Jawaharlal Nehru University of India, a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi, and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha. Besides, he has attended the Advanced International Programme in Conflict Resolution (PACS) at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University.
He has written two books, Informatics for Peace & Development in South Asia: Perspectives of SAARC (ISBN 978-3-8473-2303-7); and New Information Technologies, India and the North-South Relations (ISBN 978-3-8473-3045-5). He has published extensively on International Relations and Look East/Act East Policies, Southeast Asia, China, and North East India in peer reviewed journals, both in India and abroad. He has presented papers in various national and international seminars and conferences, and has visited a number of foreign countries in connection with his academic assignments. His research interests include the political economy of India’s Foreign Policy & National Security; Asia-Pacific Security; India, China & East Asia relations; Contemporary Territorial and Maritime disputes; and Regional Economic Integration.
