Aniruddha Lahiri is a veteran entrepreneur with an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
He started his three-decade long career with Hindustan Unilever Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Unilever in 1976. Mr. Lahiri went on to serve the Hindustan Lever Board in various capacities as Director, Agri business; Technical Director; and Director, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs between 1992 and 1997, with responsibilities that spanned the range from manufacturing, project management and technology to capital investments, engineering management and human resources.
In 1998, he was seconded to Unilever at its corporate centre and shared time between the Netherlands and United Kingdom as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Technology with worldwide responsibilities. He simultaneously headed the Safety, Health and Environment Action Committee of Unilever as its Chairman.
Upon his return to India in 2001, Mr. Lahiri joined ABP Ltd, the publisher of The Telegraph newspaper in Calcutta as Managing Director. He was also Director, Media Content & Communication Services, a joint venture between ABP TV, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the ABP Group, and STAR Group. MCCS runs the STAR News and STAR Ananda news channels.
After ABP, Mr. Lahiri joined the diversified multinational New York-based The Chatterjee Group (TCG) in 2006 as the President of the Group and also served as the CEO of the TCG Group’s IT platform till 2014.
Mr. Lahiri’s entrepreneurial spirit has found a voice in the two companies that he has founded -- Trishul Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd., an Engineering Design Services company, and Siegwald Leadership and Training Academy Pvt. Ltd., both headquartered in Kolkata. He is the Founder Chairman of both companies and is now dedicating all his time to build these businesses.
He has served as the President of the Tollygunge Club, the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Calcutta Management Association, and the American Chamber of Commerce (Calcutta Chapter). He was also the Vice Chairman of the National Executive Board, AMCHAM India, and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Practical Training as a nominee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
An alumnus of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and IIT, Madras, Mr. Lahiri attended the Senior Leadership Programme at Wharton while with Unilever. He also holds a Diploma in Industrial Engineering from NITIE.
